Can Tomato Juice Lower the Blood Pressure?

Tomato juice could be the answer for people who have blood pressure problem. Moreover, people will get the best result if they consume a glass of tomato juice every day. Tomato juice will be able to reduce the risk of heart disease, if consumed without salt or sugar.

It is recently reported that Japanese researchers did a study about tomato juice. They did a study for about a year, where they had participants who drank a glass of tomato juice every day for 12 months. The result shows that the participants’ blood pressure has become low after consuming the unsalted tomato juice. However, the participants did not only get lower blood pressure, but they got low-density lipoproteins. Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) is a bad cholesterol. Blood pressure and low-density lipoproteins are the cause of heart disease.

The participants consisted of 184 men and 297 women and it was held in Japan. During the test, all of the participants were allowed to drink tomato juice, as much as they want. However, the participants needed to write down how many glasses they read every day, and reported it to the researchers every three months.

The participants were not just regular people. 94 participants already had hypertension, but never got treated by doctors. After consuming tomato juice, their blood pressure diastolic went lower from 83,3 to 80,9 mmHg. According to the experts, these numbers showed the blood pressure went from stage two to stage one.
