Immigrants’ New Camp in US-Mexico Border

USA - US Defense Ministry spokesman Chris Miller said US military personnel will set up camps near the US border with Mexico that will be managed by the Ministry of Homeland Security (DHS). These camps are will be built temporarily to accommodate immigrants who are not registered as US citizens.

It is reported that US Ministry of Defense will lend the camps and build the camps as requested by DHS to accommodate at least 7,500 immigrants that wanted to enter USA, as the US Defense Minister Patrick Shanahan stated. Selected campsites include Tucson, Yuma, Arizona, and four other locations in Texas, namely Tornillo, Donna, Laredo, and Del Rio.

Before the camps will be built, the location will be inspected first by the US military personnel in the next two weeks to determine the scope of the place, cost, and time before building the camps.

One of the reasons why these camps will be built because it is also reported since October 1, 2018 around 500 thousand immigrants have been detained on the US border with Mexico. Most of them are unregistered immigrants who come from Central America and are seeking asylum in the US. Many of the immigrants were forced to be released while waiting for hearings related to asylum applications due to limited space at the detention site. The US military decided that these camps will be the best place for the immigrants to stay before officially entering USA.
