Budi Arie: Jakarta's social assistance data is by far the most incorrect

Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, Budi Arie Setiadi, stated that Jakarta is the most disastrous region when it comes to the Integrated Data of Social Welfare (DTKS) for the receiver of Social Assistance (Bansos).

The matter came into light during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) where the central and regional governments cooperate to provide assistance for the people in need to stay alive amid the pandemic. Speaking at a live feed on Facebook Migran Care on Tuesday (12/5), Budi Arie stated that Jakarta’s data has the most discrepancies.

On the other hand, Budi Arie admitted that indeed, the DTKS require correction both from regional and central government since 2011. However, until now, the matter persists.

Budi Arie stated that since the data has not been updated for 9 years, there are a lot of discrepancies. Therefore, the Deputy Minister hoped that by the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, the data will also be updated. He said that it is time for the neighborhood to consolidate and register which people are eligible for the Bansos.

The Deputy Minister also asked the Indonesian people to report the discrepancies in the DTKS. For example, the case in East Java, when the Deputy Speaker of Regional Legislative Councils was also included as one of the receivers for the Bansos.

The Governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, said that he will let the Social Ministry announce the data for the Bansos receivers stage 2 in Jakarta. He said that the Jakarta Government is still perfecting the DTKS. It has been resent to the neighborhood to be verified once more.
