Bringing Dentists to Your Office
For people who don’t have the time to go to the dentist, this startup company will help them! No need to go to the dentist anymore, because the dentist will come when they are asked.It is all started in 2017, when Justin Joffe and Alexandria Ketcheson decided to start this company. Both of them are not dentists though, their backgrounds are retails. However, they contacted a friend who is a dentist in Manhattan, Jeffery Rappaport, and ask if he wants to join them. Henry the Dentist was made not long after. The team consists of Rappaport whose job is to take care of the dentistry, as well as Joffe and Ketcheson who are managing the customer experience.
In March 2019, it is reported that Henry the Dentist got $10 million Series A financing led by Forerunner Ventures. With this amount of money, Henry the Dentist was able to expand their business. Around two months ago, in May, Henry parked their RV (which contains dentistry stuff) in the parking lot of Unilever USA’s headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
It’s all started when Unilever made a survey which resulted that 55% of the employees or immediate family members had not received a routine dental checkup in more than two years. This leads the Unilever to work together with Henry. Hence, in May, Henry’s RV parked in the Unilever’s parking lot for a week. It turned out that a lot of employees were on the waiting list and got a chance to do a checkup, without leaving the office.
Joffe stated that he treats Henry as his own child; it is expensive and must be treated with a care. There might be competitors coming out, but he doesn’t worry. He thinks that many people tend to skip dentist checkup, which resulted a wide open market.
