Boris Johnson: EU is blockading food trade!

The tension between the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom (U.K) post-Brexit is getting hotter than ever. The Prime Minister of the U.K, Boris Johnson, stated in an exclusive Daily Telegraph's take that the EU is trying hard to impose a "food blockade" between Northern Ireland (NI) and the U.K. Johnson stated that the EU is not only going to impose tariff from the U.K to NI but also completely halt the food product trade between the two regions.

Previously, the EU demanded the U.K to lift its unilateral changes by the end of September or face the legal consequence which is vetoing any trade pact with London. The food refusal between the EU and the U.K grants the U.K "third country" status which allows the U.K to export food meeting basic requirements to the EU. However, the EU worries that the U.K might violate its own food standards and infiltrate the single market on the NI. While the British PM said that he never truly believed that the EU would do such a thing, he stated that the "blockade" might endanger peace and stability in the NI.

Johnson stated that the EU's misdeed only strengthens his conviction to pass new legislation for Brexit's withdrawal agreement. Until now, the talks for future trade deals between the U.K and Belgium is facing deadlock as Brexit means the U.K is separating itself after 50 years of economic integration.

German Finance Minister, Olaf Schultz, warned the U.K that the proposed withdrawal treaty could deliver a huge blow for its economy. The former British PM, Tony Blair, disagreed with what Johnson had to say. Furthermore, Blair added that Johnson's action would only bring shame over the U.K government. EU's economics affairs commissioner, Paolo Gentiloni, said that it is up to London to maintain stability with the EU post-Brexit. The EU is ready for any negative outcomes from the discussion; is the U.K?
