Bank of Indonesia Launches New Banknotes, Starting from IDR 1,000 to IDR 100,000

Quoted from TEMPO.CO, the government and Bank of Indonesia launched seven new banknotes for the 2022 issue year or TE 2022 Money, Thursday, August 18, 2022. The seven 2022 TE money are officially valid, issued, and circulated in the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) coincides with the 77th anniversary of Indonesia Independence, August 17, 2022.

“I am Perry Warjiyo, the Governor of Bank Indonesia, together with the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, Mrs. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, who officially launched seven denominations of the 2022 edition of the Rupiah banknote as legal tender throughout the territory of the Unitary Sate of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Perry at the launch of the 2022 Rupiah banknote on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

The 2022 TE money consists of IDR 100,000, IDR 50,000, IDR 20,000, IDR 10,000, IDR 5,000, IDR 2,000, and IDR 1,000.

Perry said the launch of Rupiah currency is a concrete manifestation of our joint effort to provide quality and reliable Rupiah Currency to the public. He also invites all component of society to love and be proud of Rupiah.

“Let’s ignite the optimism of the national spirit and the commitment to recover faster and rise stronger towards an advanced Indonesia,” he said.

The 2022 TE Money stull maintains the main image of national heroes on the front as well as Indonesian cultural themes on the back as the 2016 TE Money. There are three aspects of strengthening the 2022 TE Money, namely a sharper color design, a more reliable safety element, and better material resistance.
