Bali sees reduce in tourists amid COVID-19

It is evident that the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) also affects the tourism of a country.

One of the most frequent tourist destinations in Indonesia, Bali, also felt the disturbance in its income.

As part of the method to prevent the further outbreak of COVID-19, the Chinese government put its country under a virtual lockdown. Moreover, the World Health Organization (WHO) also stated the PHEIC for COVID-19.

Bali certainly felt the effect on its tourism, seeing a 60 – 80 percent. Like other countries, China is the major contributor to its tourism, and Bali is also the same.

In every cloud, there is a silver lining. As Chinese tourists decrease, the other tourists from other countries rise.

Previously, foreign tourists intended to go to China. However, due to the lockdown, the intention shifted to Dewata Island.

Regions such as Nusa Dua, Legian, Kuta saw drastic decreases in Chinese tourists. While Sanur and Ubud did not see a significant decrease by only 3 – 8 percent since European tourists visit the area more often than Chinese.

Up until now, the death toll due to COVID-19 has reached over 2,300 and infected more than 75,000 in China and hundreds across more than 20 countries.
