Trump Invites Kim Jong Un to “Shake Hands” in Demilitarized Zone

At the final day of G-20 meeting in Osaka, Japan, President Donald Trump issued invitation for Kim Jong Un before flying to Seoul. Trump said that he wants to “shake hands and say hello” in demilitarized zone. The zone is located between North and South Korea. The White House refused to give a comment about the meeting of two country leaders.

Although Trump triggers such speculation about their meeting in demilitarized zone, there has not been a formal announcement. Meeting in demilitarized zone has to be held with typical security protocols. Therefore, Trump’s statement in Twitter is ambiguous. It seems like Trump said that he doesn’t know exactly where he’s gonna meet Kim Jong Un, but it’s his wish to have a meeting there. Furthermore, Trump said the meeting followed a "very beautiful birthday card" that Kim had sent him and a letter that Trump sent back to North Korea.

Trump expressed his gratitude for having a good relationship with Kim Jong Un. He also revealed that if the president of U.S. was not him, there would be a war between U.S. and North Korea. If the meeting is going to happen for real, it will be the first time for them to meet in demilitarized zone. Despite of its name, that zone is the most heavily guarded area in the world. The meeting will also be the third direct meeting between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un. Trump has made history to be the first U.S. President who met North Korean leader while in office.
