B.I leaves iKON after Dispatch accusing him for illegal drugs consumption

A shocking news came from iKON, a Korean boy group under YG Entertainment management. Kim Han Bin, known as B.I, decided to quit from his group after his illegal drugs scandal was being exposed by Korea media outlet, Dispatch.

Yesterday, B.I through his personal account @shxxbi131 wrote an apology letter to his fans and team. He deeply apologized for causing a trouble because of his immoral actions and also felt guilty to fans and iKON’s members.

As self-reflection, B.I mentioned he planned to leave the group.

In a short time, YG confirmed the IKON’s leader contact has been ended. YG apologized and said it was Hanbin who decided to terminate the contract.

Later, fans made a petition at change.org to keep B.I within the group, over 350.000 people have signed it. Fans believe B.I didn’t use illegal drugs but he just wanted to try in the past. iKONIC, the iKON fans’ name, were disappointed by YG’s decision to let B.I withdraw from the group just within an hour.

On June 12, Dispatch released conversations’ screenshots between B.I and someone named “A” in 2016  on its website. The pictures which based on Kakao Talk messaging app, showed how B.I asked the drug seller “A” about LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide) and wanted to buy them.

According to “A”, LSD has higher effect and is stronger than Marijuana in Korea. Later, “A”, the female drug supplier, demanded B.I to keep silent about drugs.

Seller “A” was arrested at a residence in Seoul for illegal drug transactions on August 2016. During the investigation, “A” confessed that she gave B.I 10 pieces of LSD outside iKON’s dorm. Another seller “C” handed over his buyers’ name list, which included Kim Han Bin, according to Dispatch.

However, Dispatch found something strange after the 3rd investigation, “A” withdraw her statement and said she didn’t know where B.I got the drugs.  “A”s 1st and 2nd questioning were August 22, 2016 and the 3rd was on August 30, 2016.

The media believed YG Entertainment met with “A” and hired lawyer to handle her case as well as asked her to change her previous statement about B.I.

Due to B.I’s scandal, YG’s shares fell down by 4.05% to 31,950 Won ($27.03 USD) a stock.
