Avoid vaping! Your lungs look old

Nowadays, technology covers even the most basic things in our life. Take an example, smoking cigars. We are now straying further from the conventional cigar, enchanted by electronic cigar known as vape. The idea of vape is mixing your flavors and smoke it while it is hot.

While some “scientific” articles state that vape is safe for our lungs, compared to the old cigars, the story of Adam Hergenreder, a teenage from Illinois, US, might be something you - vape smokers - need to open your eyes to the menacing danger of vaping.

While he was once a varsity wrestler for his university, Hergenreder now had to struggle to even catch a breath let alone wrestling. Due to e-cigar (vape), Hergenreder acquired respiratory problems and his lungs' diagnosis showed that his lungs looked like 70-year-old lungs.

“It is frightful to think of what that thing (vape) did to my lungs. I was a wrestler. Now, I am afraid I cannot do it anymore since it is total physical sports and my lungs might not be sufficient to handle it,” testified Hergenreder.

Hergenreder had been vaping his lungs out for a year and a half before finally being hospitalized. Previously, the amount of vape he breathed like he smoked a pack of cigars daily.

The doctor said to his family that had it been a bit late, his lungs might have collapsed and that would have been the end for the 18-year-old varsity wrestler.

While the education about the cigar, vape, and their dangerous drawbacks are spreading like mushrooms in the US, Hergenreder still vaped. Why? He thought it was safe and he was trying to fit in! The mindset causes 450 cases in 33 states and 6 mysterious deaths in California, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Oregon and Kansas under investigation of the US Public Health.

The US government is also struggling to ban vape from US teenagers having seen a great number of teenagers using it.

Therefore, is it the fault of an 18-year-old who was trying to fit in and thought it was safe to do so? At the same time, we are made aware that companionship is important in our social life, but we need to be wise in processing information and who we are befriending.

While prevention can be made from the authority and our family, we need to keep in mind that vaping or trying out foolish things to fit in is never a good idea of social communication. Not only does it destroy your body and mind but also it does not make you fit in any better.
