Apple's Designer Jony Ive is Leaving; Apple Stock Drops

Apple is founded by Steve Jobs in 1976. Today, the brand is widely known to the whole world for their products. One of the most bestselling ones, iPhone, is known for its minimalist and exclusive design. When talking about the design of iPhone, Jony Ive cannot be left behind. He is the designer behind every iPhone that people owned today, as he has been working for Apple for 27 years. Not only iPhone though, Ive also designed iMacs and Macbooks since the 90s. Remember the candy-colored iMac which first came out in 1998? That’s one of his works.

Nothing lasts forever, unfortunately. Apple announced on June 27, that Ive is planning to leave Apple later this year. Although it is reported he would leave Apple at a few occasions before, it seems like this time, he will do it for real. The prediction is based on the Apple’s statement that said he will soon form an independent design company called LoveFrom. However, Apple also reports that Ive’s new company will continue to work with Apple and they will become clients.

Although Apple has assured that they are still working with Ive, it seems like the investor are not quite happy. Only hours after the announcement of Ive leaving was released, Apple is reported to lose around $9 billion from its market cap. However, this amount of money does not affect Apple that much. They lost $9 billion, but the amount of money is equivalent to 1%. Therefore, investors are still believed that Apple will still be fine in the future without Jony Ive. Along with the announcement that Apple and Ive are still going to be clients, it means no big change will happen after his withdrawal.
