Apple is Now Helping People to Monitoring Diabetes

Apple has now branched out to the health industry. After years releasing products like computers, phones and music players, this year, Apple is teaming up with a company that offers diabetes monitor device. What kind of device and how does it work?

Previously, Apple released Healthcare App on their App Store. This app is actually for both patients and caregivers. When a patient goes to a hospital, the doctor and nurse could use the app to add the person’s health status such as the current condition, symptoms and the medicines. Next time the patient visits the hospital, the doctor could read the health records from the app. The patient’s records can be shared with the doctor and caregiver through the app.

What makes Apple’s Healthcare app special is that; the care can be continued at home. Healthcare app can be synchronized to Apple Watch as well, which can track the patient’s current condition. The patient can also write the symptoms they have and the caregiver will tell the patient what to do and such alike.

Adding a new feature to Healthcare app, Apple is teaming up with One Drop. One Drop is a company that offers a diabetes management service. The company sells a kit for diabetes patient such as glucose meter, test strips and lancets. However, they don’t have a brick-and-mortar store to sell their products—they have been selling their products online. Now that they are teaming up with Apple, consumers can find their kit in Apple Stores.

Not only selling their products in Apple Stores, but Apple adding One Drop’s feature into their Healthcare app. Using this, diabetes patients can record their diabetes in the app, which will be easier for the caregivers to control their patients.
