Another Nissan executive to leave after Ghosn's arrest

TOKYO - Nissan Motor Co. said Tuesday its global sales chief Daniele Schillaci will step down, effective May 15, becoming the latest executive to quit following the arrest of former Chairman Carlos Ghosn.
Executive Vice President Schillaci, who was recruited by Ghosn from Toyota Motor Corp. in 2015, will leave the company "to pursue an opportunity closer to his native home in Europe," Nissan said.

Schillaci, also in charge of Asia and Oceania operations and the electric vehicle business, joins a list of executives considered close to Ghosn who have left the company in the wake of his dismissal as chairman in November for alleged financial misconduct at the automaker.

In January, Jose Munoz, Nissan's former executive in charge of China's operations, stepped down as did Arun Bajaj, former senior vice president in charge of human resources, in March. Bajaj was targeted in Nissan's in-house investigation into Ghosn's alleged misdeeds that led to his arrest.

Board member Toshiyuki Shiga, former chief operating officer who was seen as Ghosn's right-hand man, has also said he will step down, pending approval at the shareholders' meeting in June.
