ANIES TOLD NORDIC COUNTRIES DISCUSSION ABOUT CITY PLANNING

"This is an opportunity to exchange ideas between Jakarta Provincial Government, experts, urban issues activists in Jakarta, as well as Nordic experts and institutions that have provided solutions to problems in the city."

DKI Jakarta Provincial Government held a meeting with several Nordic countries at City Hall Block G Complex, Central Jakarta, today (26/4/2018).

The meeting was held to discuss urban development planning and to find a way out of the economic, social and cultural problems facing the Jakarta government.

"This is an opportunity to exchange ideas between the Jakarta Provincial Government, experts, urban issues activists in Jakarta, as well as Nordic experts and institutions that have provided solutions to problems in the city," said Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in a press conference on Thursday (4/26/2018).

Several countries attended meetings including Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

According to Anies, the meeting is an opening activity of the ongoing cooperation that will be built with DKI countries in Eastern Europe and the North Atlantic.

"So our experts, our planners, our apparatus have a network for ongoing discussions in the future," he said.

According to Anies, the success of these countries in managing the city and overcoming the problem of inequality in society becomes something that should be imitated by the Provincial Government of DKI.

"These countries are interesting, why they attract one, they succeed in doing economic growth, economic development and at the same time doing welfare distribution to the people," explained Anies.

From these guests, the provincial government will also consult and discuss the problems facing Jakarta today.

"So first we want a discussion, then talk about the problem in Jakarta instead of talking about application solutions in the Nordic countries for Jakarta," he said.

He added, "we see the problem of Jakarta needing a solution, what is the solution, we learn from what ever done so as not to implement but solve the problem in Jakarta, which is number one, so the discussion is close to the reality of Jakarta."
