Anies: PSBB and without PSBB? No difference

The Governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, stated that Jakarta will start implementing a large-scale social distancing (PSBB) on the upcoming Friday. Baswedan said that before PSBB, the Jakarta Government has done its best to implement policies tackling the COVID-19. Therefore, the Governor said that with or without PSBB, there will be no huge difference.

The difference in PSBB is that the regulations are stricter and more compelling. For the upcoming PSBB, Jakarta Government will clarify in detail what to do and what not to do by the Jakarta residents during the PSBB implementation. The regulations will be mandatory, enforced by the Jakarta Government, Police Force, and Armed Forces.

Anies emphasized that the only difference is that “now, there are rules to obey.”

Reportedly, the PSBB’s regulations will be issued today. The regulations will cover the limitation of mobility and interaction between people.

The limitation starts in education, business, public facility, and leisure spots with the exception only for essential business sectors, public transportation, public service, or the government. Anies said that the limitation came after consideration that Jakarta is a center of the national economy.

For the limitation of interaction, the Jakarta Government restricts mass gathering of more than 5 people. Patrols from the police and Jakarta Government will be dispatched to disperse the gatherings. Firm measures will be taken for those who disobey PSBB.

Anies hopes that PSBB will be the indicator of the Jakarta Government in containing the COVID-19 outbreak.
