Amid COVID-19, 30 flights from SQ to Indonesia canceled

The biggest airline in Singapore, Singapore Airlines (SQ), and its subsidiary, Silk Air, apologized as they had to cancel 30 flights to some cities in Indonesia due to the fall in demand amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The cancelation happened to the flights from 24 February to 25 May 2020.

Reported from the SQ’s Facebook page, the cancelation includes to Jakarta, Bali, Bandung, Balikpapan, Makassar, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Medan. Not only to Indonesia, but the Singapore-based airline also temporarily canceled flights to metropolitans in ASEAN, the United States (U.S), European Union (EU), North Asia, West Asia, and Africa. In total, more than 200 flights were canceled.

SQ also projected that the cancelation will decrease the scheduled capacity of the airline to by 7.1 percent. Both airlines promised to take swift actions to alleviate the COVID-19 and monitor the situations.

For the passengers who already booked tickets, SQ and Silk will direct the flight to another flight. For those who booked the ticket by travel agents, the company suggested they contact the respective agent. Meanwhile, for the passengers, having booked the ticket from SQ and Silk, the company dropped the number if they need any assistance.
