Ambassador: Indonesia Festival escalates the number of Russian tourists visiting Indonesia
The Fourth Indonesia Festival in Moscow which will be held from Agust 1 – 4, 2019 at Krasnaya Presnya Park was officially opened by Indonesian Ambassador to Russia and Belarus Wahid Supriyadi on August 2. The event is an annual cultural festival organized by the Indonesia government through Indonesia Embassy to showcase the country’s traditions and cultures toward Russian people.The embassy chose “ Visit Wonderful Indonesia: Enjoy Our Tropical Paradise” as the festival’s theme for this year.
Since the festival first edition in 2016, Indonesia Festival had given positive impacts to Indonesia’s tourism industry. It had successfully increased the number of Russian tourists visiting Indonesia, said Supriyadi.
According to the data from Indonesia’s Tourism Ministry, the number of Russian travelers who had visited Indonesia reached 68 thousand people in 2016. The number has increased by nearly twofold in 2018, with 125 thousand Russian tourists.
Through the 2019 Indonesia Festival in Moscow, the government expects Russian people can have a better understanding of Indonesia. In addition, the festival can be a medium support Indonesia’s diplomacy on economic in Russia. The government believes the event will give positive impacts not merely to the tourism sector, but also to the economy and trade sectors.
During the Indonesia festival, visitors can enjoy Indonesia’s culinary bazaar and learn about batik through a workshop. Cultural performances and various arts from different provinces of Indonesia can also be enjoyed by guests.
More than 140 thousand Russian citizens, particularly from Moscow, are expected to visit the 2019 Indonesia Festival. In the third Indonesian festival last year, above 135 thousand Russians came over the festival.
