American IT giant Amazon.com has announced that its founder, Jeff Bezos, will retire as CEO. In the future, as Chairman of the Board, he will continue to be involved in the management of the company by developing new products. Bezos sent an email to his employees yesterday, stating that he would retire as CEO and become chairman of the board in the third quarter of this year.
"Being the CEO of Amazon is a daunting task with heavy responsibility, and it's hard to pay attention to anything else," Bezos explained as to why he left.
On the other hand, he said, "This is not retirement," he will continue to be involved in the management of the company by developing new products and launching new businesses as chairman, as well as the space development venture he established and the leading paper acquired eight years ago. He explained that he will also focus on managing the "Washington Post". Andy Jassy, who will be responsible for the fast-growing cloud business, will replace him as CEO.
