After ministerial positions, PKB is now targeting Chairperson of MPR position
General Chairman of Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar aka Cak Imin again made a sensation. This time, he expressed his desire to fill the position of chairman of the Indonesian Consultative Assembly (MPR RI). Previously, he had also been discussed cause of his desire for PKB to get 10 ministerial positions in Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin cabinet.Deputy Secretary General (PKB) Daniel Johan, from a discussion in Jakarta, Saturday (6/7), said that the reason Cak Imin wants to become chairman of MPR RI was because he considered capable of bridging the extreme right and left. According to him, Pancasila is in the position of mediator, so it must be able to accommodate communicating well to everyone. He also claimed that the NU working spirit was a purely nationalistic agreement.
To smooth out his desire, Cak Imin also pleaded with the elected vice president Ma'ruf Amin for his blessing so he could successfully get the MPR RI Chairman position. Ma'ruf also expressed his support for Cak Imin. He said that this was to combat the radical Islamic ideology that was developing at this time. Ma'ruf also hopes that Cak Imin, who is part of NU, can restore Indonesian ideology through the MPR.
Received Ma'ruf's blessing, Cak Imin was more confident. He is confident that he can realize his ambition in the MPR. He also said that he would strengthen the four national pillars to fight radical Islam.
Even so, he said that he couldn't comment much about chairman MPR RI position for 2019-2024. Cak Imin claimed that there had been no discussion about the position of the MPR leadership. According to him, PKB still had to discuss with political parties supporting the pair Joko Widodo and Ma'ruf Amin. He also said that ripening would take place within two months.
