After 60 years, Hello Kitty has a new CEO

TOKYO- Creator Hello Kitty resigned as CEO at the age of 92 and bequeathed the post to her 31-year-old grandson.

It was the first leadership shift in 6 decades of the company's history to stand and the thorns landed to the creator grandson.

On last Friday, Shintaro Tsuji CEO Hello Kitty withdrew from his post and passed the company to his grandson, Tomokuni who has been the senior managing director.

Incidentally, Tomokuni's birthday in conjunction with Hello Kitty is 1 November, so she was 14 years younger than the fictional character, Hello Kitty itself.

He will be the youngest CEO of a company listed in the Topix Tokyo index.

There was also the father of Tomokuni, the son of Shintaro, had been passed away in 2013 due to heart failure.

Based on the company's history, Shintaro Tsuji established his first company named Yamanashi Silk Center Co Ltd in 1960 in Tokyo.

But later in 1973 it was renamed Sanrio and created his first character a year later that was Hello Kitty and the duo Jimmy and Patty.

Objects with the first Hello Kitty characters are the coin wallets that become souvenirs on the 1975 and the characters of Hello Kitty have been revered by many people ranging from buttons to clothes to handbags.

Hello Kitty even has its own theme park which is very popular.

Sanrio companies have surprised Hello Kitty fans in 2014 by saying that the character is not inspired by a cat but a happy little girl.

The fans were in a huge internet and said, "but Hello Kitty has a mustache!"

The change took place when Sanrio had a hard time and his business declined for years in the midst of a corona viral pandemic.

According to results also published on Friday, Sanrio's yearly net profit fell by 95 percent in the fiscal year 2019/2020. Sales dropped 6.5 percent to 55.2 billion yen or 514 million US dollars.

People glad to hear about the changing CEO, people are looking forward for Sanrio future and how the new CEO idea to make Hello Kitty keep on existence in the middle of corona virus pandemic in Japan and all over the world.
