Adi Wahyono arrested over COVID-19 fund corruption

A suspect of a corruption case involving the social assistance fund for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Adi Wahyono, surrendered himself to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). A commitment making official (PPK) at the Social Affairs Ministry, Wahyono surrendered himself on Monday at 9 a.m. The news was confirmed by KPK's Acting Spokesperson, Ali Fikri.

Previously, KPK asked Adi and the Social Affairs Minister, Juliari P. Batubara, to be cooperative and surrender themselves. Juliari had surrendered himself first by arriving at KPK on Sunday at 2.50 a.m. Ali stated that the investigators will question both suspects immediately on the corruption case involving the social assistance fund for COVID-19.

In the wake of the corruption case, KPK had determined five suspects. They are:

1. Juliari P. Batubara (Social Affairs Minister);

2. Matheus Joko Santoso (PPK of the Social Affairs Ministry);

3. Adi Wahyono (PPK of the Social Affairs Ministry);

4. Ardian I. M; and

5. Harry Sidabuke.

As the receiver of the graft, Juliari will face Law No. 20 of 2001 on Changes in Law No. 31 of 1999, Article 11, 12(a), and 12(b) on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

Adi and Matheus will also face Law No. 20 of 2001 on Changes in Law No. 31 of 1999, Article 11, 12(a), 12(b), and 12(i) on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption. On the other hand, Ardian and Harry as the giver of the graft will also face Law No. 20 of 2001 on Changes in Law No. 31 of 1999, Article 5 chapter 1(a), 1(b), and Article 13 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
