Accused of grilling its Impossible Whopper on a regular grill, Burger King sued by a customer

A man from Florida, United States (U.S), on Monday, filed a lawsuit against one of the largest hamburger chains in the world, Burger King. The lawsuit stated that Burger King did not cook its plant-based hamburger, “Impossible Whopper”, on a different grill. Instead, it was cooked on the same grill as other ordinary meat.

Phillip Williams, the man who filed the lawsuit and a devout vegan who doesn’t eat nor drink anything animal-based, sued Burger King for false advertising and reaping benefit from offering vegan food that, in fact, is not 100 percent vegan.

From its web advertisement, Burger King said that the “Impossible Whopper” is “100 percent Whopper, 0 percent meat”.

It all began in August when Williams was opting for the “Impossible Whopper” in Atlanta and said to pay a “premium price” for the meatless hamburger. Williams said further in the lawsuit that if he had known that the burger would have been cooked that way, he wouldn’t have bought it.

According to the lawsuit, Williams saw that Burger King in Atlanta did not put on any “different grill” info in its drive-thru; therefore, indicating that the “Impossible Whopper” would be cooked on the same grill as other meaty Whopper.

Williams claimed that he was not alone. He stated that he saw similar complaints online about how Burger King cooks its “Impossible Whopper”.
