A Major Flour Milling Manufacturer Announces One After Another That the Price of Commercial Flour Remains Unchanged
In response to the government’s decision to keep the selling
price of imported wheat at the current level from next month onward as a countermeasure
against soaring food prices, major milling companies announced one after
another that they would keep the price of commercial flour unchanged.
Nisshin Flour Milling and Nippon, major milling
manufacturers, announced on the 12th that the price of commercial flour from
next month onwards will remain unchanged at the price that was applied to the
delivery in late June.
Much of the wheat consumed domestically comes from overseas
and is imported in bulk by the government.
The selling price of imported wheat by the government to
flour milling companies was expected to rise further from next month onward due
to factors such as rising import costs due to the situation in Ukraine and the
depreciation of Yen.
The response of both companies is based on the government's
decision, and it is expected that similar responses will spread among other
flour milling companies in the future.
However, as various costs other than wheat, such as raw
materials and distribution costs, are rising, attention will be paid to the
response of each manufacturer regarding the price trend of products using wheat
flour.
