Mayor of London Calls Donald Trump a ‘Global Threat’

Just a day before Trump’s arrival in the UK which due to take place today, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has expressed his dislike of the president visit. Khan, who is the longtime Trump critic, said in a newspaper article that the US president is a ‘global threat’.

Upon his three-day official visit, the UK plans to roll out a red carpet to welcome this controversial president. But in his writing, Khan mentioned this action was ‘un-British’ to treat an individual who is divisive when the nation he is leading was founded on the principle of equality, liberty, and religious freedom. He added that welcoming Trump’s visit would be a profound regret to his country for being on the wrong side of history.

Previously Trump had planned to visit the UK several times but was always canceled. In January last year, he was scheduled to visit the capital but he scrapped the plan because he did not want to open London’s new US Embassy. In response to this, Khan argued that the real reason was that he would not be welcomed in the city.

In spite of being delayed several times, the last year official visit was eventually met with a massive anti-Trump protest in London and throughout the country. The London’s protest featured a 20-foot tall ‘Baby Trump’ balloon flown outside Parliament building—which was given permission by Mayor Khan himself.
