Tokyo “Don’t get together to drink or eat at cherry blossom viewing”
Soon the cherry blossom season come. In early March, the Tokyo
Metropolitan Government banned people from gathering to drink and eat at six
metropolitan parks, including Ueno Park, Inokashira Park, and Yoyogi Park. There
are also other places where you cannot enter near the cherry blossom trees.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is thinking of continuing
in the same way even when the cherry blossom comes after the priority measures
such as prevention of spread are completed on March 21st.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says, “if you gather together to eat without a mask, or if a lot of people gather at cherry blossom viewing, there is a concern that the virus will be transmitted. This is something that could happen.”
