82-year-old man dies after being bitten by dog in Hyogo Pref

HYOGO – A Tosa dog (mastiff) killed an 82 years-old man in Minami-Awaji, Hyogo Prefecture on Monday, May 27, according to the police.
Reported by Sankei Shimbun, On Sunday night, May 26, the police suddenly received a call at around 8.40 p.m. The call was made by a 55-year-old man, who turned out to be the 82-years-old man’s son. He said that his father had been bitten by a Tosa dog.

The police went straight to find the man. Tsutomu Fukumoto, the man who was bitten by the dog, was found inside of the dog’s cage with the Tosa dog near him. There were some bite marks on his back, which made him lost a lot of blood. He was then declared dead.

Earlier yesterday, an acquaintance asked Fukumoto to look after his dogs in their cages, which are located near Fukumoto’s house. Other than looking for the acquaintance’s dogs, Fukumoto also looked after his grandson’s three Tosa dog. It is reported that he had gone to the cages area at 5 p.m. to feed the dogs. However, he didn’t return and made his 75-years-old wife searching for him. The wife found her husband’s body inside the cage, and rushed to tell what she saw to her son.

The cage where Fukumoto’s body was lying is quite big. It is 2,6 meters long, 1,3 meters wide, and 1,4 meters. Meanwhile, the four dogs were in separate cages near Fukumoto’s house.
