North Korea is “losing patience” with USA

Hanoi, Vietnam - North Korean news agency, KCNA, on Tuesday (4/6/2019) reported that, North Korea warned the United States that the agreement reached by the leaders of the two countries in Singapore last year could be at risk because of pressure made by the United States. It is also reported that Pyongyang is punishing officials who negotiated with the US before a failed meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The media report that came almost a year after the first meeting of Trump and Kim Jong Un in Singapore said that, the agreement reached at the meeting was threatened with cancellation. An unnamed North Korean foreign ministry spokesman stated that, the agreement could be risky if the US does not cancel its policies which only demand unilateral surrender of our nuclear weapons.

The North Korean foreign ministry spokesman also mentioned on Reuters that, they advised the US to change its current method of calculation and respond to their requests as soon as possible, as there is a "limit" to their patience.

The second meeting that was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, at the end of last February did not end well as expected with Trump leaving the meeting room sooner than expected and without a joint statement. It was said that Trump moved away from the meeting after Kim Jong Un submitted a proposal for the abolition of North Korea's nuclear facilities in Yongbyon, in return for removing some US sanctions on Pyongyang.

However, despite repeated threats against the denuclearization agreement, North Korea said they are still willing to comply with the joint statement as long as the US finds a constructive approach for both countries.
