7,462 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Tokyo on Tuesday

Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 7,462 new coronavirus cases in Tokyo on Tuesday, down 2,182 from a week ago. This marked the first week-on-week decline in six days.

The ministry also reported 28 deaths in the capital on Tuesday.

Fifty-six seriously ill patients were on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines on Tuesday, up one from Monday.

Nationwide, 75,504 new infections and 253 deaths were confirmed on Tuesday.
