Cailee Spaeny to be the First Witch in ‘The Craft’ Reboot

The fans of the cult-hit horror film, The Craft, have been excited since an entry in Production Weekly announced the film reboot. It revealed that Blumhouse Productions is going to make The Craft reboot which will be directed by Zoe Lister-Jones. By the casting of their first witch, Hannah, the plan of The Craft reboot seems to be real. Cailee Spaeny is their choice to play the lead role of high school outcast. Spaeny has previously appeared in Pacific Rim: Uprising, Bad Times at the El Royale, and in On the Basis of Sex where she played Ruth Bader Ginsburg's daughter.

As a refreshment, The Craft tells the story of a shy girl who moves into a new town and befriend three teenage outcasts who practice witchcraft. The three girls use Hannah’s superpower to cast spells upon all of their classmates who’ve wronged them in the past. Hannah seems to be analogous with the role of Sarah Bailey, who previously played by Robin Tunney. Cailee Spaeny told Comicbook.com that she wants to appear in the reboot, but she also feels like the film would have to be fresh. She said that it should be culturally relevant and not just a recreation of the source material.

The reboot itself is expected to begin the production in July. It is financed by Columbia and Blumhouse. Jason Blum is the producer alongside Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher from Red Wagon Entertainment. Andrew Fleming, the director of the 1996’s The Craft film, will be executive producer along with Red Wagon's Lucas Wiesendanger. It’s still unknown for the cast of the other three roles in the film which are originally played by actresses Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True.
