Americans, Say Goodbye to “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?"

Say goodbye to the 17 years old program. The show is not coming back for 2019-2020 season, after American Broadcasting Company (ABC) stated that they did not give consent to the show to air. The show has given the memories of 300 episodes for Americans.

“Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?” (WWTBAM) is a British program in origin, from the idea of David Briggs, Mike Whitehill, and Steven Knight. More than 10 countries globally localized this show, and there is more for this show as there are countries considering to bring back the show once more.

The show made its debut in 1999 ABC’s primetime, before moving to syndication in 2002. Even though many countries adapt to other format, the show followed an original format: contestants have to answer questions that lead them to US$ 1 million, to be a millionaire as the title tells you. And of course, the constestants can either back off to save their money or lose it all when they answer the questions wrong. The show gives the contestants 4 assistances: 50:50, eliminate choices, call-a-friend, or ask the audience.

So ABC, is that your final answer? To end “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire”?
