10-hour wait: Harry Potter enthusiasts to ride New Hagrid Roller Coaster at Universal Orlando

On Thursday, Universal Studio Orlando officially opened the newest Harry Potter roller coaster at Island of Adventure to public. It sounds unbelievable, but to ride the attraction, people have to wait in line for more than 10 hours.

The theme park opened at 9.am and for those who wanted to be the first to ride the Hagrid roller coaster have to come before the sun rose. Just 30 minutes after the park opened, the line for the most anticipated attraction had reached 10 hours, cited Fox. 

The estimate time for waiting riding the new coaster was around 8 to 10 hours according to the Universal Orlando mobile app. Visitors’ was still on fire although it started raining at 2 p.m.     

On Hagrid coaster, fans sit in either a motorbike or its sidecar for touring the iconic forest nearby Hogwarts, the Forbidden Forest, where magical creatures like unicorns and pixies live. 

Gary Blumenstein, the creative director at Universal Creative, said the ride is a combination between coaster thrills and story. The roller coaster run for 3 minutes, but those who have ridden said it was like 5 minutes long. 

Universal invested $300 million to build Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike ride. It was a replacement for the Dueling Dragons roller coasters at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
