“Electricity supply and demand tight warning” Continued for 28 days within the jurisdiction of TEPCO Government
The government will continue to issue the “Electricity
Supply and Demand Tight Warning”, saying that the electricity supply and demand
is expected to become severe on the 28th due to the continued severe
heat within the jurisdiction of TEPCO. They are wary of heat stroke and seek to
save as much electricity as possible while using air conditioners properly.
As the heat continues to be severe in the Kanto region, the
government issued the first “Power Supply and Demand Tight Warning” within the jurisdiction
of TEPCO, and on the 27th, called on household and businesses to
save as much electricity as possible.
According to TEPCO, on the 27th, supply increased
due to a decrease in demand, which is thought to be an effect of power saving,
and power interchange from other power companies, and the tension was avoided.
The end of the rainy season has been announced in the Kanto
region, and severe heat is expected in various parts of the country on the 28th,
so the government will continue to issue a “Electricity Supply and Demand Tight
Warning” within the jurisdiction of TEPCO.
From 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, especially from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm,
they are wary of heat stroke because of the severe demand of electricity supply,
and seeking as much power saving as possible while using air conditioners
properly.
In response to the difficult situation, JERA, a thermal
power generation company invested by TEPCO, will move the thermal power plant
in Chiba prefecture, which was scheduled to resume operation on July 1st
this Friday.
According to TEPCO electricity demand is expected to reach a
high level, which is rare for this period, on June 28th as the
historic heat continues.
It is likely that severe power supply and demand will
continue while keeping an eye on changes in temperature, as demand will
increase by about 1.5 million kilowatts even if the temperature rises once more
that the power company expected.
In addition, on June 29th, the reserve rate,
which indicates the surplus power supply capacity within the jurisdiction of
Hokkaido Electric Power Company, Tohoku Electric Power Company, and Tokyo
Electric Power Company, may fall below 5%.
Company are urging homes and businesses to prepare for power
savings toward June 29th.
