Dongfeng Sokon’s (DFSK) sole agent in Indonesia, Sokonindo Automobiles, retried to compete in the SUV sector last year. This year, they are going all-out by launching mini-bus Gelora.

Gelora is a “flat nose” car prepared for all kinds of needs such as for public transportation, urban logistic carriers, or for a specific need such as an ambulance. In Indonesia, such needs are often fulfilled by similar SUVs such as Gran Max from Daihatsu or Carry from Suzuki.

The minibus was first introduced in Gaikindo Indonesia International Commercial Vehicle Expo (Giicomvec) on Thursday.

The Gelora minibus has 4.5m (length) x 1.68m (width) x 2m (height) dimension, and 3.05m wheelbases. Compared to Daihatsu’s Gran Max, Gelora is 45cm longer and 1cm wider. Willing to house more passengers, Gelora is equipped with 11 seats, adaptable according to your needs. For its blind van version, Gelora is claimed to possess a 4.8 cubic meter cabin.

For its engine, Gelora possesses DK 1,500 cc DVVT fuel engine following Euro IV standard beneath the driver and shotgun seats. The engine produces 107 HP and 140 Nm torque.

The other technical miscellaneous are the rear wheel, front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, and front MacPherson struts. For its wheel, Gelora possesses 14-inch rims with 185/80 tires.

Nonetheless, Gelora is not equipped with airbags.

DFSK could not give a specific date of when it will be commercially available. However, it is estimated that the car will cost Rp185 million – 189 million for minibus, and Rp175 million – 179 million for a blind van. Gelora will also have its electrical version which costs Rp489 million – 499 million for minibus, and Rp469 million – 479 million for blind van type.
