'Send Her Back' Chants: Trump Claimed to Have Stopped It

Trump did a rally at North Carolina for the 2020 election. However, it seems like the rally didn’t end up pretty well. During the rally, Trump accused some congresswomen—Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashia Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley. These four women are known as ‘the squad’ who has been criticizing the American government. After his accusation (which accused Omar more than the others), his supporters start to chat ‘send her back’ referring to Omar, who is a Somalia refugee.

Although it seems like Trump and his supporters are having a moment during that Rally, the aftermath did not end up well. Members of the Republicans (most of the seniors) and Ivanka Trump urged Trump to repudiate the ‘send her back’ chant. The chant could disadvantage Trump as well as his party on the next election.

Trump then made a statement that he was not happy when his supporters did the chant. He also stated that he started to speak quickly after the chant, which he claimed it showed how uncomfortable he was. However, Trump did not explain about which part he disagreed with. Moreover, the video shows the contrast of his action and claim.

Meanwhile, Muslims who are living in U.S. are shocked and bewildered after watching the chant. A Muslim man Ibrahim Nour, revealed that he thinks that the country will change for the worse, and it shook him. However, in where Omar live, which is in Cedar Riverside, Minneapolis, the people are welcoming her home. They shouted ‘welcome home, Ilhan’ at the airport during Omar’s arrival to show their support. It looks like Ilhan will get some benefits from the chant incident, including getting herself new voters for the next election.
