'Ip Man' donates HK$1 mil for medical teams

A Chinese actor, Donnie Yen, most notably known for his role as Ip Man, was reported to donate HK$1 million dollars to help the medical team in to tackle the novel coronavirus originating from mainland China, COVID-19.

Besides, Yen also puts his trust in the Chinese government that it will prevail against the novel virus that took 2,130 people per Thursday.

Speaking to Asia One on Thursday, Donnie Yen, through his official account in Weibo, thanked all medical teams for their struggle in fighting back the COVID-19 and treating the infected patients. He referred to the medical team as the frontline in the battle.

Not only thanking but also Donnie Yen advises all of his fans and all Chinese people to protect themselves by wearing masks and washing their hands regularly.

The Guangzhou-born actor also said that he would put the painting made by his children, Jasmine and James, to the auction. The benefit will be donated immediately to Wuhan to spread happiness to the medical teams there.

Due to the COVID-19, Donnie Yen had to postpone his new movie. The new movie should have begun its production on 28 February. Nonetheless, the production house, Filmko Films, said that they had to postpone it to November since they need the winter atmosphere for the film.

The decision was taken also after considering the safety and welfare of all crews and stars.
