'Egg boy' donates $100,000 to Christchurch mosque attack survivors

An Australian teenager who became known as “egg boy”, Will Connolly, says he donated almost $100,000 to the Christchurch mosque attack survivors.

People started to make a GoFundMe page after Connolly cracked an egg on the head of the far-right senator Fraser Anning, and that’s where the money comes from.

Anning punched Connolly after Connolly cracked an egg on Anning’s head when he said that the Christchurch attack highlighted the fast growing of fear over an increasing Muslim presence in Australian and New Zealand communities.

Connolly was taken away by police and released without charge. The money that was raised through GoFundMe pages had been set up to raise money for legal fees, however, Connolly promised to donate the money to the Christchurch mosque attack survivors in which 51 people were killed.

On Monday, Connolly wrote on her personal Instagram page that he have donated $99,922.36 to the Christchurch Foundation and Victims Support. He decided to donate all the money to help provide some relief to the victims and it wasn’t his to keep. He also added that there are two GoFundMe pages set up to help cover the cost of his legal fees and to ‘buy more eggs’.

Through this post, Connolly got 75,508 likes and 3,176 comments.
