'Anterin', a newcomer in Indonesia's ride-hailing market

Grab and GoJek, make way! Here comes ‘Anterin’. Indonesian ride-hailing market is already dominated by two big names: GoJek and Grab. Nonetheless, ‘Anterin’ remains resilient and wants to try its luck challenging these big names.

Taking blue as its color, it is not the only different thing from the ride-hailing company. ‘Anterin’ uses marketplace concept where drivers and passengers get the privilege to determine their own favorable price.

In other words, the drivers will determine their own prices, but it is up to the passengers to choose the price they are most comfortable with. Moreover, the passengers can choose the drivers to their own preferences: from price to gender, things unavailable in GoJek and Grab who depend on algorithm and applicator. Nonetheless, they still have to follow the regulations.

The next difference is that drivers from Grab and GoJek can also join ‘Anterin’. Grab and GoJek has a membership policy that if you have to be loyal to either.

Another difference is that ‘Anterin’ charges Rp 150,000 subscription fee per month. Later, it will be taken from the drivers’ income. GoJek and Grab both give their drivers commission when they fulfill orders and incentives if they manage to reach a certain target.

However, this inventive also comes from their commission. The CEO and founder of ‘Anterin’, Imron Hamzah, pointed out that the incentive has been a thorn in the flesh for ride-hailing companies.

“Why the marketplace concept? It is to improve drivers’ lives so that these drivers can get loyal customers. Look, nowadays, when the incentive was reduced, there are protests.”

“By this concept, we don’t give commission, but freedom from commission withdrawal. After all, incentive also comes from commission. Hence, we are solving drivers’ social problems,” said Hamzah on Thursday (19/9).

Released in 2016 on Beta version and commercially in 2018, ‘Anterin’ has been downloaded around 100,000 times. It has covered more than 20 cities and cooperated with 200,000 drivers. Anterin’ offers four types of rides: Bike, Car, Truck, and Express.
