AnTuTu disappears from Play Store

The application known for its benchmark score and comparison with other gadgets, AnTuTu, cannot be found on Google’s Play Store. For tech lovers, the AnTuTu Benchmark is used to know the quality of their gadgets and compare them with other gadgets.

Not only the Benchmark but also AnTuTu 3DBench (the app to determine the performance of CPU and UX) and AITuTu (to determine the performance of the artificial intelligence [AI]) also disappeared altogether with AnTuTu. These apps were still available on 22 February.

Regarding the exact time of disappearance, it is still investigated.

The strongest reason for their disappearances is because the developer, Beijing AnTuTu Technologies, is related to the Cheetah Mobile (CM), a software developer based in China.

Since last month, Google has been purging its Play Store from CM’s apps. CM was known to repeatedly violated Google’s terms and policies. Due to its relation with CM, AnTuTu also shared the punishment. However, is AnTuTu related to CM?

Global Marketing Manager of AnTuTu, Amelie Liu, said that Google had misunderstood. CM and AnTuTu have no correlation at all. It was, indeed, CM who invested a large amount of share in AnTuTu in 2014. However, Liu said that AnTuTu still possesses a large number of shares to make the company operate independently.

With that said, Liu hoped that Google would reconsider its decision and put AnTuTu back on its Play Store.
